Police Department
Commitment to public safety has made Corinth one of the safest cities in Texas. Our police force is outstanding. Now led by a new, experienced police chief and captain, I am confident that our police force will continue to maintain the safety of our city and its residents.
The City Council’s main role for the police is to be sure that it is properly prepared with the tools, ordinances and equipment needed to keep our community safe. That is why it is very important in this election—whether or not you vote for me—that you vote to continue our ¼ cent sales tax that funds our “Crime Control District.” This money is used to pay the salary of two officers and to purchase vehicles for the department. It also funds several other crime control programs.
Fire Department
In the past year, Corinth ended its joint partnership with the other lake cities to run and fund the Lake Cities Fire Department. Corinth brought the fire department into the city budget and now charges these other cities for service. This was an important move so that we can prepare for improved services in the future. Now that we have filled the open position of Fire Chief with an experienced and respected leader, we will examine our needs and formulate long-term plans for fire service improvement. Better fire services result in stronger industry ratings and ultimately reduce homeowners’ insurance rates.
