Guiding Corinth Toward a Better Future

Corinth City Council, Place 1 (2006-Present)

Served the Corinth City Council since my first election in May 2006. I was re-elected in May 2008. During this period Corinth has made progress in adding businesses, re-building its road system and providing the infrastructure necessary to attract new businesses.

Corinth Economic Development Corporation (2006-Present)

Participated as member of the CEDC board of directors as we promoted Corinth as a place to do business in several regional and national publications and conferences. Voted to provide incentives to bring Corinth its first Hotel. This brand-name hotel, Comfort Inn, will provide sales and hotel occupancy tax revenue to the city.

Denton County Transportation Authority (2005-2006)

Represented the City of Corinth on the DCTA Board of Directors 2004 to 2006. Although I fought to preserve the trail and voted for the Highland Village route, the majority of the board voted to bring the train route through Corinth on the Denton Branch Rail Trail. After the route through Corinth was certain, I thought it was important to give the citizens of Corinth a chance to vote on whether we should join DCTA and have a train station in Corinth. Despite my objections, a majority of the city council cancelled that election.

Since that time, I have done what I have always done—sought to reduce the negative impact of the train on our neighborhoods. Although we have not been able to maintain the tranquility of every home, our continued engagement in the process with DCTA has resulted in quiet crossings throughout the city which will at least spare us from the sound of train horns. Several neighborhoods will also have sound walls which will help reduce the negative impact of the commuter rail.
